Day Thirty Seven

Instruction manuals...what are they for anyway?  I did not get one when I had kids, or when I got married, yet one comes with just about everything I buy now.  Go figure...

Sometimes these manuals are long and I just cant sit down to read the whole thing.  Seriously, why would I do that?  I can skim right through for what I need, and deal with it them.  What would I gain to learn the entire thing besides a great big migraine???

I admit it, I am a manual hater.  There is too much information, and it is written in a way I struggle to understand.  However, I have decided that I still need to learn about the items that come with these manuals.  Why buy these things if we are not going to use them to their full capacity?   For example, my camera which I adore.  ( Thanks Hannah!)  The camera is amazing, and takes beautiful photographs.  I love it and am so excited to have it...but learn about it?  Thats tough.  I did take a beginners class at National Camera Exchange which I totally recommend.  Their presentation of how my style of camera works was entertaining, and educational in a way that spoke directly to me as a novice.  I guess learning about it was not that bad, and I have actually decided to open the manual this weekend while the fam is out hunting.

Why do we resist learning new things?  I think its because this world is getting more instantaneous and we are simply resisting things that take time.  Think about this though...if we read the manuals in life and took the advice of the professionals a little more often, it could actually make our lives better in the long run.

Now, where is this going?  Yesterday I met with a friend of 17 years.  She has tons of digital and scanned photos on her computer.  I asked her what was in the folders and she had no idea.  She was frustrated with the system she has and just ignores it.  That does not work for her though, as ignoring makes it worse.   She was definitely receptive to a new way.  But resistant to learn about anything tecki.  Actually, when I got to her home she rolled her eyes and said " ok, show me what  youve got."

I showed her the Creative Memories Memory Manager and Storybook Creator programs.  And guess what???  She is actually excited and believes she can use it to organize her photos, and do something with them.  If Carol can do it, you can too!  And by the way, remember that it comes with a full service consultant to help along the way at no extra cost.

Why not try it out, just start with Memory Manager and get your photos organized so you can find them.  Find that amazing photo for the holiday photo card you want to send this year.  Its early, and you have time.
